How to Clean Makeup Brushes

Figuring out how to clean makeup brushes can be a daunting task, especially if you have never done it before. You may be worried that you’ll ruin the shape of your brushes, or damage them so that they don’t work the way that they did when you first got them. However, you should push those worries aside because cleaning makeup brushes is really a lot simpler than you may think!

It’s really important to learn how to clean makeup brushes even if you think you can get away with not doing it. As you use your brushes regularly, oil, dirt, and bacteria will become trapped in the bristles, and this can lead to breakouts and clogged pores. Not only that, but if you’ve invested inĀ  expensive brushes, you probably want to keep them in tip top shape, right?

it’s also important to give your brushes a nice deep cleaning at the end of each week. In order to deep clean your brushes, you won’t need a fancy brush cleaner. You can do this simply using a gentle shampoo, or a baby shampoo. Some of us may already have this in the house, if not, you can easily buy big bottles of baby shampoo for really cheap at most stores. Other household items that can be used for cleaning are vinegar and tea tree oil.

Now on to how to clean makeup brushes! The first thing that you should do is rinse your brushes under lukewarm water until the water runs clear.

Now fill up a bowl with lukewarm water and put a bit of the shampoo inside to create a soapy solution. Gently swirl your brush tips around in the solution and then swirl the brushes on your hand to work a lather into them, and get out any extra makeup.

After this, rinse your brushes again like you did at first. Continue repeating these steps until you feel that your brushes are completely clean. When you have gotten them as clean as they will go, use a clothe or towel to wipe your brushes. You should also reshape your brushes as close as you can to how they were so that you aren’t left with bristles going in all directions!
